For 25 years, the Tribeca Festival has been one of New York City’s defining cultural experiences. What began in 2001 as an effort to help revitalize Lower Manhattan in the aftermath of 9/11—co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff—has grown into a citywide celebration of film, television, music, podcasts, games, and immersive storytelling. This year’s milestone 25th edition runs June 3–14, 2026, drawing filmmakers, artists, celebrities, and audiences from around the world.
MORE THAN MOVIES
Tribeca is about far more than watching movies. The festival transforms downtown Manhattan into a creative playground where red-carpet premieres sit alongside live conversations, music performances, art installations, gaming showcases, and networking events. The atmosphere is distinctly New York—fast-paced, stylish, and endlessly curious. This year’s lineup features a record number of world premieres, reinforcing Tribeca’s reputation as a launchpad for both emerging talent and major industry names.

WHERE IT ALL HAPPENS
The festival spreads across some of New York’s most iconic and distinctive venues, making the experience of attending feel like a tour of the city itself. Spring Studios in Tribeca serves as the Official Hub—the central gathering point for screenings, events, and the festival’s social scene. The Beacon Theatre on the Upper West Side, a legendary 1929 entertainment venue, hosts marquee events including Opening Night. The OKX Theater at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center anchors the festival’s downtown roots, nestled within Lower Manhattan’s Borough of Manhattan Community College. SVA Theatre in the East Village and Village East by Angelika—located in the historic Yiddish Theatre District—round out the main screening locations, while AMC 19th St. East handles a busy share of the feature film program. For gaming enthusiasts, a free public Games Gallery runs June 10–14 at Pier 57.
THE TRIBECA EXPERIENCE
Part of what makes Tribeca so special is the setting itself. Between screenings, attendees spill out onto cobblestone streets lined with independent galleries, rooftop bars, and some of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants. It’s not unusual to spot filmmakers discussing projects over coffee or catch a chance encounter with a festival guest in one of the neighborhood’s bustling cafés. The festival and the neighborhood feed off each other—Tribeca the place is as much a part of the experience as Tribeca the event.
WHY IT STILL MATTERS
In an era when audiences crave experiences rather than just events, Tribeca continues to stand out. A single ticket often covers multiple experiences—a live show after a concert film, a Q&A paired with a premiere, a retrospective screening followed by a conversation with the original cast. This year brings a Martin Scorsese talk alongside a ‘Taxi Driver’ screening (with Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster), a ‘Boy Meets World’ reunion documentary, and much more. It’s a place where culture, creativity, and community converge—and where living in or near downtown Manhattan puts you right at the center of it all.
From all of us at The Sapir Team — if you’re in Manhattan this June, the Tribeca Festival is not to be missed.
