As we enter November and reflect on everything we’re grateful for, the Sapir Team is turning that gratitude into action. This season, we’re volunteering together — and we’d love for you to join us.
Whether you’ve lived in the city for years or just moved to the neighborhood, the Upper East Side (UES) and Upper West Side (UWS) offer plenty of ways to give back. Volunteering is one of the most powerful ways to connect with our community, especially during the holidays.
Here are some local organizations doing meaningful work — and looking for helping hands this Thanksgiving season:
Encore Community Services
Encore serves older adults with compassion and care, offering hot meal delivery, community programs, and support services. Volunteers can help with meal delivery, phone outreach, and more — especially around the holidays, when many seniors are alone.
Carter Burden Network
Carter Burden’s programs support New Yorkers aged 60+ through wellness programs, meals, social engagement, and friendly visits. Volunteers are needed for everything from serving lunch to helping with events and tech support.
Urban Outreach Center of NYC
This East Harlem-based organization tackles food insecurity with dignity. Volunteers assist with food pantry operations, serve meals, and sort donations. It’s a great way to have a direct and immediate impact in the neighborhood.
Lenox Hill Neighborhood House
This well-established East Side nonprofit offers a range of services — from educational programming to housing support — for low-income individuals and families. Volunteer roles include meal prep, arts and enrichment, and more.
Volunteering during the holidays reminds us of the deeper meaning of Thanksgiving — being there for one another. As real estate professionals, we help people find homes. But it’s the relationships we build and the community we nurture that truly make a place feel like home.
If you're interested in joining us this season — or want help finding the right opportunity — reach out. We’re happy to connect you to a cause that fits your interests and schedule.
Wishing you a meaningful and heart-filled Thanksgiving,
Dana Sapir
